A flawlessly-painted cannon will only damage Mickey's enemies, for instance, but if you mess up the painting, the cannon will be a danger to everyone in the area. The more precisely you trace, the better for Mickey. By tapping the item icons exist in every level, you'll be able to "paint" (trace) those items into existence, including cliffs, cannons, and floating platforms. Power of Illusion makes heavy use of the Nintendo 3DS's stylus. It is not necessary to save all of them, just enough to increase the Heart Power to break through Mizrabel's illusions. Throughout the Castle of Illusion, there are manifestations of the characters Mizrabel is draining paint from Mickey can save them and bring them back to the Fortress in the center of the castle. Mickey must rescue his fellow characters, save Minnie, and defeat Mizrabel. By using the powers of the Castle of Illusion to drain the paint of popular characters in the cartoon world, she seeks to gain some means of traveling back there. When Mizrabel finds herself an unwilling resident of the Wasteland, she wants to find a way out. The story is set sometime after Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.

On 30 July 2007, the BBC programme Panorama broadcast a show on how street violence between children as young as 11 was being posted on websites including LiveLeak. While some large media platforms, like Facebook and Twitter, are under increasing pressure to clean up their acts in terms of publishing hate crime material, it is nigh on impossible to stop the material popping up in multiple places elsewhere. Instant global access to news can also pose problems to subsequent trials of perpetrators, as was shown in the recent case involving Cardinal George Pell. "New Zealand Police alerted us to a video on Facebook shortly after the livestream commenced and we quickly removed both the shooter’s Facebook and Instagram accounts and the video. “Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and the community affected by this horrendous act," Facebook's spokesperson said in an earlier statement. Facebook says when it finds this content coming from links to other platforms, it's sharing the information with those companies. In order to catch videos that have been altered to evade detection-for instance, videos of the footage playing on a second screen-Facebook is deploying the same AI it uses to spot blood and gore, as well as audio detection technology. This means that the original video has been hashed, so that other, similar videos can't be shared again. We urge people to report all instances to us so our systems can block the video from being shared again.” "We are adding each video we find to an internal database which enables us to detect and automatically remove copies of the videos when uploaded again. “Since the attack happened, teams from across Facebook have been working around the clock to respond to reports and block content, proactively identify content which violates our standards and to support first responders and law enforcement," a spokesperson said. The company didn’t initially respond to WIRED’s queries about this or to questions about how Facebook distinguishes between newsworthy content and gratuitous graphic violence.Īfter this story published, Facebook sent further explanation about how it's handling videos of this shooting. It’s unclear why the Christchurch video was able to play for 17 minutes, or even whether that constitutes a short time frame for Facebook. All of that is in addition to AI tools that detect more prosaic issues, like copyright infringement. What's more, Facebook and others have machine learning technology that has been trained to spot new troubling content, such as a beheading or a video with an ISIS flag. These programs generate digital signatures known as hashes for images and videos known to be problematic to prevent them from being uploaded again. These companies also have invested in technology to spot extremist posts, banding together under a group called the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism to share their repositories of known terrorist content. Google has developed its own open source version of that tool. Facebook uses PhotoDNA, a tool developed by Microsoft, to spot known child pornography images and video. The answer may be a disappointingly simple one: It’s a lot harder than it sounds.įor years now, both Facebook and Google have been developing and implementing automated tools that can detect and remove photos, videos, and text that violate their policies. The Christchurch massacre has people wondering why, after all this time, tech companies still haven’t figured out a way to stop these videos from spreading. It’s also been almost three years since footage of a mass shooting in Dallas also went viral. This isn't the first time we’ve seen this pattern play out: It’s been nearly four years since two news reporters were shot and killed on camera in Virginia, with the killer’s first-person video spreading on Facebook and Twitter. Many hours after the shooting began, various versions of the video were readily searchable on YouTube using basic keywords, like the shooter’s name. News organizations as well started airing some of the footage as they reported on the destruction that took place.īy the time Silicon Valley executives woke up Friday morning, tech giants’ algorithms and international content moderating armies were already scrambling to contain the damage-and not very successfully. Almost immediately, people copied and reposted versions of the video across the internet, including on Reddit, Twitter, and YouTube. The shooter apparently seeded warnings on Twitter and 8chan before livestreaming the rampage on Facebook for 17 gut-wrenching minutes. At least 49 people were murdered Friday at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, in an attack that followed a grim playbook for terrorism in the social media era. For that reason, Twitch recommends that you keep your settings within their standard limit. If you try to go higher than 8,500 kbps, you will either get an error message or the screen will go black. Keep in mind, though, that what’s known as the Twitch ingest servers can accept streams up to a given max of 8,500 kbps. That means, with the audio, the maximum bitrate supported on Twitch is 6,320 kbps. The audio bitrate is divided between the recording track and the streaming track to permit music released for live broadcasts. Twitch also allows up to 320 kbps for audio. If you lack a fast internet connection, your stream wanes, leaving your viewers with a pixelated stream. So, the higher the bitrate, the faster and more stable your connection needs to be. The higher the bitrate, the better the stream quality. A higher bitrate takes up more of your Internet bandwidth. On Twitch, your upload bitrate is the amount of data you send to Twitch when you stream. So, to learn what the best streaming bitrate is and how it changes based on your resolution, you need to know the various components that influence bitrate requirements. Without it, you can handicap your ability to play the games you’re eager to stream. To give your viewers a seamless, quality streaming experience, you need to pick the best bitrate for your Twitch stream.
Where Snagit truly shines is in the image capture side of things. Lots of interesting features, especially Webpage and Panoramic works wonderfully. The interface is clean and simple, with tools at the top, and changeable parameters to the right (Image credit: TechSmith) So, it becomes a trade-off: if you’re looking for a way to do this effortlessly, and don’t mind not having any editing tools, it could very well be the screen recorder for you. Still, unlike Snagit, most bundled recording features don’t allow the recording of the system audio. Not surprising really, as having a powerful and versatile video editor is Camtasia’s forte. The only downside is the inability to control the webcam footage in post - it’s effectively burned into the clip, and there’s a total absence of editing tools aside from clipping. In our experience, the recording was flawless, and Snagit captured everything we asked it to, the webcam, the screen, the audio, syncing everything together beautifully. We’re being assured by the developers that the recording agent has been enhanced for greater stability, with improved audio and video syncing. The main difference of course is that all these actions are being recorded: once you stop the session, you’ll see them happen as you performed them, in the resulting video file. You’ll find you can still manipulate the webcam footage during the recording, which is a big plus: you can move it to another corner (it can’t be a free-floating window), you can resize it as before, and even switch it off completely. It feels so superfluous.Īnyway, once you click on that toolbar’s big red button, the recording will start. It’s useful in a way, but it’s the same controls you were offered prior to clicking on that big red button, although presented in a different way. You also have the ability to turn on or off the mics and the webcam. This is where you move the webcam to another corner, and resize it by clicking and dragging its edges. You can’t control other aspects of your computer aside from the Snagit tools in front of you. Instead, you’re in some sort of preview mode. This includes enabling the webcam, choosing its position and shape, whether you wish to record the entire screen or merely a section of it, along with options to capture the cursor, a connected microphone, and the system audio.Ĭlicking on the big red capture button doesn’t actually start the recording though. And you’ll find a good number of useful controls. Whether you’re taking a photo or a video, it’s all done through there. Once you’ve enabled all the features you need (like access to the webcam, being able to record the system audio, that sort of thing), you control Snagit from keyboard shortcuts or if you’re on a Mac a convenient shortcut in the Menu Bar. You’ll find setting up Snagit to be extremely straightforward, and almost identical to Camtasia. Perfect recording of both audio and video, but no video editing capabilities.Enabling the right settings to allow Snagit to capture what it needs is a simple matter of going through this list (Image credit: TechSmith) Crunchyroll is an online streaming platform available in various parts of the world, including the United States, Canada, and some parts of Asia.Ĭan You Watch Naruto: Shippuden English Dubbed On Netflix? "It wasn't what I wanted" and "It's bad" are two completely different things.īoth major plot points and thematic elements are extremely sparse through most of the game only to suddenly be dumped onto your head by the truckload. The fact that it doesn't mean your definition of what a Chrono Trigger sequel "should" have been does not make it a bad game - or even a bad Chrono Trigger sequel. It's hard to get more heavy-handed than that.Ĭ) Chrono Cross obviously isn't a direct sequel to Chrono Trigger, but it's plot hinges on the two hanging plot threads left by Chrono Trigger: 1) What happened to Schala? and 2) What about the Time Paradox caused by preventing the Bad Future by killing Lavos after you decided to kill Lavos because you saw the Bad Future? So the stories are definitely related by more than just setting.ĭ) Chrono Cross stands perfectly well on its own merits. I mean, seriously, the Chrono Cross party murders Fate. Chrono Cross is about seeing a Bad Past and saying Screw Destiny. Chrono Trigger is about seeing a Bad Future and saying Screw Destiny. Porre took over Guardia, yes, but you could just as easily assume that the CT cast were off having other adventures when it happened, or are leading La Résistance against Porre occupation, or basically anything else you like, rather than assuming they're dead and lambasting Chrono Cross for "killing" them.ī) Chrono Cross does not reverse Chrono Trigger's main theme. Or how about making the game based around Dalton stealing your time machine and messing with history? Heck, any sequel involving Chrono and the gang would have been better than what we got.Ī) Chrono Cross does not kill off the Chrono Trigger main characters (except possibly Robo - depends if his AI was copy/pasted or cut/pasted). Heck, you could even have him team up with his younger brat self (because I think that a time-travel clone like that was something that both Chrono games really missed out on). For instance, what if we had a game starring Magus as the protagonist, with the story involving his attempts to rescue his sister from wherever it is she ended up after Zeal fell to ruin. Its a shame too, because I can think of some kickass scenarios for a proper Chrono Trigger sequel. Also, other details really bugged me, like how Schala's hair was turned blonde just to make the whole ridiculous Kid = Schala's clone thing work, the fact that they basically shoved Lynx onto the sidelines just to make you fight Lavos in the end, and the fact that the series main selling point (the Time Travel) was removed from the game.Īll in all, Chrono Cross is really not a sequel to the Chrono Trigger game, but to its spin-off, Radical Dreamers, and they should have marketed it as such. Its like the story of Chrono Trigger never actually happened, so all the time you invested playing the game was pointless in the end. I mean, its one thing for your characters to get killed off, or for the bad ending to turn out to be the canon one, but this is on a whole different level. Not only does Cross not even feature the character that the game is named after beyond him showing up as a weird ghost, the game erases my beloved Chrono Trigger characters from all of existence. Namely, the fact that they marketed this game as a sequel to Chrono Trigger, yet in reality it is no such thing. So I just finished playing these two games, and frankly just had to go and rant a bit about Chrono Cross. Obviously this thread is full of spoilers. |
